TO: OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS
Starting on January 1st 2007 the new emission controls will go into effect.
How will this affect you our customers?
The availability of the new fuel may or may not be a factor as it is questionable that all of the fuel stations we now use will be set up for this fuel by January 1st 2007.
The fuel tanks we now use cannot be used to hold this new fuel as it cannot be mixed in even small quantities with the existing fuel.
This will require two fuel tanks and two filling stations for those of us that use bulk fuel at our yards.
In addition it is going to raise the price of the new trucks somewhere between $11,000.00 - $15,000.00.
The new trucks require much more maintenance time and they will not be compatible with any old fuel.
This new fuel can be used in old trucks.
There is a distinct possibility that this fuel will be more costly then the old fuel, Mack says around 5 to 10 cents per gallon therefore you would probably want to stay with your old fuel.
In summary we feel that it would be wise to buy the 2007 units now with the old style engine’s and keep your fleets universal for at least another year or so.
Schwing America has ordered several trucks with the old style engines and we think it is our job to recommend the purchase of one or two of these before the change to the new engine occurs.
Once the supply of these trucks is gone you will have no choice in what engines you receive. It is Federal Law that any trucks manufactured after January 1st, 2007 must have the new engine’s.
Give us a call at 816-942-1000 and we will be glad to discuss the issue with you.
Sincerely,
